The Tweet Heard ‘Round the World
Former “Daily Show” writer, John Oliver had tons to say about my branded tweet, Spring of 2021.
During his live “Cereal” segment on his talk show, “Last Week Tonight,” he described cereal brands as being “too safe,” namely, Cheerios. Seemingly, Mr. Oliver just wanted the brand to be a little more explicit—and if you’re familiar with John’s work, it’s totally on-brand for him. The (spicy) exchange took place on Twitter and as you can imagine, the world of Twitter became unhinged.
As a result of my good-natured tweets, both Cheerios and Mr. Oliver ended up donating a total of $100,000 to charity. And—we’re all still friends.
